We have a large selection of maps, books and walking guides as well as general information leaflets which you are welcome to borrow for the duration of your stay. This includes a selection of walks for those who like to get out and about in the Lake District including our famous “Cake Shop Walk”. Local walks such as Orrest Head School Knott and Brantfell begin from our doorstep and offer stunning views of Lake Windermere,
Walks further afield over in The Langdales and Coniston are a short journey away.

These take in some of the natural beauty spots of the Lake District including Tarn Hows, Coniston, Ulswater and Wast Water to name but a few. Please feel free to ask for further details
No car, no problem. The local transport in the area caters for those who come to the lakes via train. We can also arrange for you to enjoy a tour of the area with the local tour companies who will collect you from our house

Lake Windermere is a short walk away where you can take a leisurely cruise and enjoy a great choice of shops and some excellent restaurants. In our lounge, we have a selection of menus from local restaurants together with an overview of what we regard as being the best restaurants in the area based on personal experience or consistently good reports received from staying guests.
Most of these are within walking distance of the house. We can of course make reservations for you.
The lake itself has everything from rowing boats to regular cruises as well as access via car and passenger ferry to the other side of the lake where you can explore Hawkshead, The Langdales and much much more, Denehurst Guest House - Bed and Breakfast accommodation in Windemere
Attractions such as Hill Top, the home of Beatrix Potter is a short journey across the lake and the nearby towns and villages of Ambleside, Grasmere and Hawkshead are very accessible from Denehurst .
Also available nearby are stables for horse riding, quad biking, golf courses, cycle hire, fishing and the famous “Go Ape”. We would be happy to book these for you
